12:56 pm - Tuesday on the island
I had a pleasant day today. This morning I walked the dog up across from the golf course and we ran into her friend
Max. They communed for a bit while I and one of his people socialized. Husband's sister left on the 10 o'clock
boat. Then husband and I drove to the Grange for the sale.
Next week is the last of the season: make a donation and carry out all you want. This week was a dollar a bag sale.
I got that Starhawk novel that I never read: The Fifth Element. Also, L.L. Bean shorts, a few funky tee shirts,
some brooms for crafting, a tiny bean bag with someone else's initials on it, a wind chime made from a flowerpot for
the top part, a few small pottery type bowls. All for two bucks, plus whatever books the husband snatched up.
Then I went to the library where I endured a ridiculously slow connection [2mps up to 5 mps and sometimes a
disconnect] and more than two hours to offload 807 emails. I also updated a couple of journals and a couple of
blogs and sent out some emails which I composed last night. A bit after noon, mother-in-law and her sister and my
husband came in. Husband took them home and came back to scowl at his laptop which was running on self-will run
riot.
A bit after 12:30 or so we stopped at the store and left. Husband settled into making spaghetti sauce. I took dog
out the wooded path to Hamilton Beach where she played with several dogs, splashed around in the water, ran, and
greeted an assortment of kids and grownups. On the way back, we met Charlie and Leap. Leap was visiting from
Cambridge Massachusetts. He is half Belgian and half German Shepard. A very nice dog and he and Blondie hit it on
famously. They both ran in wide circles after each other and seemed to have a similar style about them. We their
people had to drag them both off finally as it seemed they were tired but neither one of them had the sense to stop.
I went through most of the email. At 5:30 we went off to mother-in-law's sister and husband for snacks and hanging.
Mother-in-law talks muchly though other folks managed to talk too so that was okay. I like her sister and husband
well enough.
Back home we ate supper and I continued to plow through the emails. Answers are set for the next time I hit the
library. Then some book-reading and bed.
