Plans were made by husband and I to take both dogs out to the Hook during low tide. Low tide is magic there and a

sandbar rises up to act as a bridge to a smaller island where wrecks of lumber and signs lay in the tick-infested
woods, a long sandy beach stretches to looks out onto water and other islands, and where rocks give way to unsure
footing and puffins.

We strolled the sandbar and watched as the daemon dawg discovered that sandpipers were fun to chase and our dog
splashed and rolled and ran in wide circles of delight. Both dogs ran together through the flats, charged into the
ocean, and trotted over sand and barnacle-infested rocks. On the smaller island, husband stood under a double-oak
tree with seaweed hanging off the lower branches speculating about the presence of The Invisible Pink Unicorn, bless
her holy hooves. My imagination ran to Huck Finn and his rafting the Mississippi. He went off to find the privey
set back in the woods and I waded in the water, finding it sweet and refreshing.

Husband came out of the woods. We talked briefly of our Lyme vaccinations. We ambled on and then settled on the
point where sand and wildings met. The daemon dawg dug a hole to sit in and begged for our laps. Our dog lay
quietly at my feet for a bit before getting up to play again. Gulls and commorants flew and swam. Boats sailed and
motored past. A couple of guys on a lobster boat were making jokes about eating environmentalists. Their voices
carried over to my seat on a rock and I laughed richly with the joy of living. Husband read some in a book.

On the way back, we met several knots of people and one family who had come on a motorboat. Husband collected sea
glass and I cursed the rocks that my feet had to find purchase on.

We drove home with the two happy but tired out dogs and traded them in for my mother-in-law who accompanied us to
the clamshack for lunch. I indulged in fried onion rings and vinegar and as a nod to nutrition had a salad.
Husband had some kind of chicken sub and mother-in-law an Italian ham sub.

After lunch, I was dropped at the library for computer internet time. Husband dragged me off several hours later
and a quiet afternoon and evening was had at the house.

Lobsters were had for dinner, leaving leftover spaghetti for Thursday night. I washed the pots and pans again. The
woman who'd had a death in her family stopped by to update us on the goings on in her family. Computer time and the
reading of books before bed.
